Comenius Project
INTRODUCTION | |||
Ampleforth has been successful in its bid to be included in a new British Council/European Union initiative entitled the COMENIUS PROJECT. The aim of the Project is to link together schools across Europe in order that they may share the benefits of mutual research, exchange teaching experience and create contacts between students of similar ages. The project is financed in the UK by the British Council. Ampleforth has been partnered with three other schools from Belgium, Malta and Turkey in a specific project entitled ‘CRISS CROSS’. During the course of the three-year scheme, each school will research ways in which their area has traditionally been linked to Europe via trade and pilgrimage and share the fruits of this research at annual meetings. Sixth form students will be involved in undertaking specific research areas but it is hoped that the research will have benefits for students throughout the school.
