Namibia 2010
Having travelled to Iceland and Malaysia on previous Global Eyes (Geography Society) biannual trips we decided to make our mark on Africa and discover the diversity of Northern Namibia in 2008. The trip was so successful that we had determined to return to Namibia in 2010 with another group of intrepid explorers. Therefore in July 2010 we propose to lead a second field trip to Namibia.
This trip will provide the students with life-long memories of a country with the most stunning of scenery and a very much un-spoilt wilderness as well as the opportunity to study topics from the GCSE and A-Level course. The trip specifically studies savannah, coastal and desert ecosystems; conservation and national parks; the wilderness concept, eco-tourism and urban development in the Third World. To research these areas the group will visit sites of geographical interest such as the sand dunes of Sossussvlei, the Gambsberg Pass, the Namib Desert, Walvis Bay, Mondesa Township and Etosha National Park.
If your son or daughter is interested in joining next years group and for more information please contact Clare Willey on cw@ampleforth.org.uk.
