Referral

1. The interviewing and assessment of prospective students who may have special needs establishes personal contact, and gives access to any existing reports or assessments, which are kept on file in readiness for admission.
2. Tutors and subject teachers communicate their concerns regarding the progress of individual students, who are then assessed to see whether extra help is appropriate.
3. All new students take the MidYIS test. This test gives a profile of their reasoning ability in different areas, and, when matched against specific diagnostic tests in literacy and numeracy, points to any problems not already noticed.
