The library contributes to the academic life of the college by providing a supportive study environment. During term-time it is open daily for the use of students and teachers.

The local craftsman Robert Thompson first furnished the school library in 1925. The commission helped to establish his reputation for producing high quality, hand crafted furniture and to this day the library is much admired as a prime example of the work of 'The Mouseman of Kilburn'.

The latest developments have been a new library management system ('Oliver'), introduced in September, and a new red carpet laid in October 2009.
