Brass Ensemble

Membership of the Brass Ensemble has grown significantly since it was established in 2006 and currently consists of seventeen trumpets, two horns, three trombones, a euphonium and tuba. Recent performances have included such works as Ronan Hardiman's Lord of the Dance Suite, Bugler's Holiday by Leroy Anderson, featuring the trumpet section, the introductory fanfare from Strauss' tone poem Also Sprac Zarathustra, Eric Coates wonderful Dam Buster's March and music from the film sound track to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Music to be performed by the Ensemble during the 20010/11 academic year is to include Seventy-Six Trombones from The Music Man and an arrangement of the Highland Cathedral featuring members of the Ampleforth College Pipe Band. As well as performing in the College's St Cecilia and Exhibition concerts the ensemble also plays at school assemblies and outreach projects in local primary schools. The Ensemble has also given performances to raise funds for the York based charity, Jessie's Fund in York City Centre.

The Brass Ensemble rehearses during lunchtimes on Monday and Thursday and is conducted by Mr. McBeth.
