Clubs and Societies

Our tradition emphasises the importance of achieving the right balance between prayer, study and recreation. At Ampleforth, we provide extensive opportunities for the broadest possible range of extra-curricular activities. Our first class facilities are backed up by expert staff who ensure that the students get the most out of them. Music, theatre, the visual arts, a wide spectrum of sports and many other activities are fostered.

Afternoons, evenings and weekends at Ampleforth give time for games and activities. The students are encouraged to develop their skills and talents. Often unsuspected gifts are discovered and developed. There are many school societies, extending the work of every academic department, and encouraging interests as diverse as Sub-Aqua, debating, the knowledge of wine and computing skills.

Land Rover Restoration Project

A group of students have begun the exciting task of restoring an old Series IIa Land Rover. The petrol engined, short wheel base vehicle is in need of a new chassis and so will need completely stripping down.
