Ampleforth TV
During the 1980's Panasonic kindly donated some of their equipment to the school, and so began The Panasonic Room, a place within the theatre building where students have been able to film, edit and produce some television work of their own. Several students have since progressed from the Panasonic Room into the professional arena. |
|
| Over the years school projects have included live interviews, sports coverage, lectures, plays, parades and rock concerts. Notable achievements have included a school prospectus video, newsreels, activities videos and even the filming of a Chekov short story, excerpts of which were shown on Channel 4. |
The Panasonic Room continues to be an attractive option for students already interested in theatre, though it is open to any student wishing to explore television further. There is a regular weekly activity slot and opportunities throughout the year to be part of a production team. The activity also has input from staff with experience in the television field, which complements the importance of student initiative. |
