The following is a typical list of equipment needed - there will be variations according to expected terrain and time of year:
- Walking Boots and walking socks
- Rucksack*
- Warm Sleeping bag* and cotton liner*
- Karrimat*
- Mug, Plate, Knife, fork and spoon*
- Water bottle*
- Waterproof Jacket & Trousers
- Warm Clothing (not Jeans)
- Spare warm jumper or fleece
- Spare set of walking clothes
- Balaclava*/ Wool Hat
- Gloves or Mitts*
- Map* & Compass*
- Route card
- Torch*
- First Aid Kit*
- Spare chocolate for emergency rations
- Toiletries etc.
- Shorts, floppy hat and sun cream if weather looks like being warm
