FACE-FAW
Friendship and Aid to Central and Eastern Europe - Friendship and Aid for the World (Face-Faw) is trying to support the people of Burma following the cyclone, and is doing so through Max Horsley (W94) who is there and helping. On 12 May 2008, 9 days after Cyclone Nargis ripped its way through the delta region of Myanmar, he wrote of the aid that has been sent: "On Saturday 10 May [2008] we sent three lorries to the towns of Pathein, Myaungmya and Bogalay and one large truck containing 500 50kg sacks of rice". A fuller version of this message is on the Burma page.
Face-Faw is also supporting a school in Zanzibar, orphans in Romania, the Manquehue school of San Lorenzo in Chile, a prosthetic unit in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the hungry in Zimbabwe.
In the current year, from August 2007 to May 2008, funds received so far from the events arranged by Face-Faw [not including Exhibition] are about £31,000, including about £6,500 to help the Friendship Holiday. These events include Honour the 600 and the Rock Concert.
Face-Faw continues to serve.
Face-Faw can be supported by cheques or cash sent to Face-Faw, Ampleforth College, York, YO62 4EN. It can be contacted on 00 44 (0)1439 766797.
