In 2007-2008, in the 8 months from September 2007 to early May 2008, Face-Faw raised funds of about £31,000 [not including Exhibition] - this including about £6,500 to help the Friendship Holiday. Fundraising included:
- Honour the 600
- Rock Concert
- Fast days – for instance, on 7 December 2007 £876 was raised by the fast day for Face-Faw from costs saved.
- St Bede’s House Year 12 organsied a party for 55 students from all ten houses, raising £145 [£100 for Francis Maria Libermann School, £45 for the Friendship Holiday], with the support of our caterer, Mr Ernesto Di Bartolomeo.
- Sales of cakes and second-hand clothes in the Main Hall, as organised by Mrs Olley.
- Alasdhair Lochrane (C) and Henry Lochrane (H) organised the sending of Christmas parcels to British troops in Afghanistan.
- St Aidan’s House party raised £300 – organised by Georgie Sandeman (A).
- The traditional Sedbergh match Guessing Game in October 2007
- Insider-Outsider match on 4 May 2008, and Insider-Outsider jerseys
- The marketing of Shac Hoodies.
- The marketing of Shac Bottle-Openers, as arranged by Henry Wadsworth (H).
- A party arranged by Francesca Tonna (B) and with the help of Mr and Mrs Anglim, to help victims of the Cyclone Nagris in Burma, for early June 2008.
In addition to the above, congratulations must go to Charlotte Codrington (M), Edward Noble (C) and Dominic Fogarty (T) for doing a bungee jump on 27 January 2008, to the skirl of the Ampleforth Highlanders Pipe Band playing at the bridge by the River Tees while the three participants jumped. They raised £5,500 in sponsorship for Help for Heroes, a charity that supports service men and women, helping to provide facilities at rehabilitation centre for battle wounds at Headley Court in Surrey. This was organised by Lt-Col VF McLean and the CCF.
Thus the combined total raised for various charities by either Face-Faw [£31,000] and or the bungee jump [£5,500] in the 8 months between 1 September 2007 and 1 May 2008 is an estimated £36,500.
