Hockey

Hockey is the main girls’ winter sport and second only to rugby in boys’ sport.

Boys and girls are integrated into hockey through mixed PE and activities.  Mixed hockey is also a feature of games played against other schools.

The teams are coached by Mr JJ Owen, a former Kent County player. There are two senior boys’ teams, three senior girls’ teams and two junior teams.  The boys’ team last season had some impressive victories while the girls reached the District Finals in two age categories.

Talented players are encouraged to play for both the District and County.  All junior girls are encouraged to represent the school in matches and Inter-House hockey is keenly contended each year.

This year the girls will visit Germany at the end of August where they will compete against a number of schools.
