Tennis

P1830317.jpgTennis is one of our most successful mixed sports. In addition to a head of tennis we also have a team coach - both of these are full-time. We currently have three boys’ and three girls’ senior teams.  This year the boys’ first team reached the last sixteen in the National Schools Tennis League and for the second year running the mixed team won the County U17s.

In boys U15s and U14s we currently run teams consisting of up to thirty players who enjoy both the competitive challenge and the success they achieve in the sport.  Last year both the U15 boys’ and girls’ teams won the area competitions to become District Champions while the U14s teams won all of their matches.

House tennis enables students to participate in school competitions both at junior and senior level.

Exhibition weekend provides another great occasion for tennis when students invite their parents or other friends or family to compete either for fun, or to win!

Last year the school entered a mixed team of sixteen students in the Eton Tournament.

Tennis at Ampleforth is fun, exciting and challenging!
