Alban Roe Projects (ARP)

Ampleforth ARP is about contributing to the Community we live in.  We invite students in their preparation for life beyond the valley to give a period of voluntary service in the local community.

ARP is our students’ opportunity to give a unique contribution to the life of school from the moment they arrive in the Sixth Form.

Why take part?

  • Put faith into action
  • Gain experience of others
  • Improve communication skills
  • Have fun meeting new people
  • Support your UCAS application
  • Make a difference
  • Grow in awareness of injustice, poverty and infirmity
  • Develop a tradition of voluntary service at Ampleforth

Is it for me?

We are looking for those who are:

  • Open-hearted and open-minded
  • Responsible, capable and reliable
  • Ready to develop and change
  • Generous young people
  • Willing to give time to others
  • Aiming to make the most of opportunities offered

And seek those who want to be:

  • more reflective, self aware, self confident and balanced
  • agents for change
  • living examples of faith

How much time do students need to give?

  • Volunteers will give an initial commitment of ten weeks approximately 2 hrs per week on a Monday afternoon. This will count as one of their timetabled activities.
  • At the end of the ten weeks there will be an evaluation when students can decide whether to continue into the Spring term or end their commitment at this point
  • The decision will be respected and the length of time they have given will be valued and recognised by the school.
