Confirmation

ConfirmationOver two masses in the Abbey Church, on Saturday evening and Sunday morning the 7th and 8th May, Bishop Terence Patrick Drainey confirmed 80 students of the College. On Saturday afternoon a stormy-looking sky gave way to moments of bright sunshine as the church filled with excited and expectant guests. Strong readings on the Resurrection, focussed the liturgy perfectly on the decision of the candidates to fully embrace their faith. Beautifully sung sacred music vocalised our confident petition: Come Holy Spirit; Come down oh love divine.

At the moment of Confirmation itself, as Bishop Terence spent time talking with each candidate, the school and proud parents, family and friends looked on. After the ceremonies the Bishop gave time to talk with many families and be photographed with the newly confirmed. In the evening he spent time with the house catechists, central figures in the giving of the Confirmation course and was impressed by their mature faith and witness. On Sunday morning there was the added joy of the Reception into the Catholic Church of India Seaton. The College thanks Bishop Terence for his generous time with the Confirmandi and of course for his very wise words on the naming of cats
