Welcome
Welcome to the Ampleforth College Website. Whatever your interest in the school, we're delighted that you are taking the time to learn a little more about us.
We have tried to make this site as easy and quick to navigate as possible. But when you have found what you need, spend a little more time with us; browse around the site. I think you'll find that there's a richness and charm in the life of Ampleforth which repays closer acquaintance. Ampleforth is different. Ampleforth's life centres on a living Benedictine monastic Community. We stand in a tradition of Christian faith, ancient and ever renewed.
Ampleforth's welcome to guests and visitors is very much a part of the tradition of St Benedict. That welcome extends just as warmly to visitors through the internet.
In fact, the teaching of St Benedict runs through the whole life of the school - remembering his injunction that this monastery and school should be "tempered in all things, so that the strong may have something to strive for and the weak nothing to run from".
The result is an education academically rigorous and full of individual opportunities now, but just as committed to the moral and spiritual qualities which Old Amplefordians will carry with them through the rest of their lives.
