School Development Plan
Each year a development plan is produced to help in pursuing our aim of providing our students with a compass for life and our mission of being a Catholic Benedictine school for the 21st century. The Development Plan is also intended to further the six development goals, which are to:
- Admit those who will flourish so Ampleforth continues to thrive
- Maintain and develop the distinctive Benedictine character of the school
- Maintain and develop Ampleforth’s high academic standards
- Maintain and develop Ampleforth as a thriving coeducational full boarding school
- Maintain and develop Ampleforth’s bursary fund and building programme for boarding and educational facilities
- Share our Benedictine character and other aspects of our educational experience with schools in the maintained sector, from whom we also have much to gain
Development plans need to be specific and challenging and they need to address changes in the world around us or perceived weaknesses in our provision (remembering that no school is yet perfect). They include specific action points which have already been agreed, but at the other end of the scale they also include matters for further research and pondering.
The action points can be studied further by following the link below. They show that we want to preserve the good aspects of our provision, which have been praised in recent inspection reports, at the same time as improving further the education we offer.
